FTEC's SmartBook for Future SmartKids



FTEC has launched its first FTEC Smart Book at FTEC's TecAsia , Plaza Low Yat recently.
The FTEC SmartBook is a portable PC netbook that caters to the needs of young children who will be entering kindegarten and primary grades and it is equipped with a water-resistant keyboard and an advanced theft control feature using a network-issued digital ID certificate.

The FTEC SmartBook is ideally designed for Internet-centric usage models, such as Web-browsing, e-mailing, instant messaging, social networking, online video viewing, photo viewing, VoIP and enjoying basic online games.

This SmartBook has a capability of running many applications including educational software, which will benefit all the young user. Mr. Tang Boon Koon, Managing Director of FTEC expressed that early access to computers enables children to learn in enhancing their thinking skills, communication and digital literacy. Mr. Navin Shenoy, General Manager of Intel Asia Pacific, echoed Mr. Tang's sentiment and said, Intel in collaboration with FTEC to launch the first version of PC netbook, will create demand for a new segment market of highly affordable Internet-centric mobile computing devices dubbed 'netbooks' or 'nettops' and SmartBook is targeted at children, which is in line with Intel's commitment in providing technology to children to equip them for opportunities in 21st century.

The FTEC SmartBook comes with two models, namely the 7-inch LCD TFT which retails at RM1199 and the 9-inch LCD TFT (equipped with an additional Webcam plus 2GB NAND Flash) , retails at RM1299.
