Toyota Launches its new CSR Toyota Eco Rangers

commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility has been an integral part of its culture since it was formed in 1982, has initiated its brand new environmental program, namely, the Toyota Eco Rangers programme at Cope Adventures Hulu Langat recently. This programme was conceived as a way to promote awareness of the environment amongst schoolchildren and to equip them with proper knowledge as well as skills for caring and nurturing the trees planted.

The three-day workshop under the Toyota Eco Rangers programme, was participated by 46 secondary schoolchildren from 23 secondary schools across the nationwide, selected by the Ministry Education of Malaysia, set to entrust to plant and care for 100 various trees within their school compound and surrounding community for a year.

During the workshop period, schoolchildren were exposed to eco-related activities to learn and recognise different types of trees in Malaysia, by visiting the Putrajaya botanical gardens, nature night walks and landscaping activities. After gaining knowledge from the workshop, the students will implement the knowledge to the actual planting of trees, commencing in July. Each school will receive a grant of RM500 and starter kits from UMW Toyota Motor.

Meanwhile, Dato' Noor Rezan, Deputy Director General, Schools Division, Ministry of Education said, the workshop that these students have just attended provides them with skills and knowledge that able to use outside of the classroom and develops the students' problem-solving skills. Also present at the event, was Tuan Haji Aminar Rashid Salleh, Executive Director of UMW Toyota Motor Sdn. Bhd. and Puan Zainuriah Abdul Rahman, Corporate Communications Director Yayasan Anak Warisan Alam (YAWA).
